Ballet for Theatre
Mondays 5:30 Pm - 6:30 pm

Ballet for Theatre will focus on examining awareness of the duality between the body and mind through basic ballet technique, movement, and positioning. Diverse disciplines of ballet contribute to the instructor’s approach. Students will identify strengths, weaknesses, and learn strategies to explore both.
Sundays 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM
This class will explore a variety of jazz styles by examining jazz’s diverse roots and interpretations through physical and social movements.

*For Ballet and Jazz: Comfortable clothing encouraged, but not excessively baggy.

Michelle Eiland began her dance training at the age of two at Fishback’s Dance Studio, including ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, modern, contemporary, lyrical, hip hop, Celtic, and character movement. Her love for dance was accompanied shortly thereafter with a love for music and acting. Michelle’s favorite theatre roles have included Kathy in Company (Musical Theatre Southwest) and ensemble/Rizzo understudy in Grease (Albuquerque Little Theatre). Michelle is also a member of the Alley Kats Tap Company under the direction of Luke Loffelmacher. Most recently, Michelle accepted the role of Assistant Choreographer in Albuquerque Little Theatre’s 2017 production of The Addams Family.

In addition to performing, Michelle loves both teaching and learning (especially languages, of which she knows English, Spanish, Portuguese, and American Sign Language), and in 2014 she earned her Master’s in Spanish, following a Bachelor’s in Spanish and minor in dance. Michelle is a teacher at the Albuquerque Sign Language Academy, and unites her performance training with her passion for teaching, aspiring daily to foster the discovery of self-expression and identity.

She is delighted to have the opportunity to teach with Musical Theatre Southwest!
Luke Loffelmacher
Some of Luke A. Loffelmacher's professional work has been as a dancer/performer in commercial with Gap products, along with a appearance on a music video starring Destiny's Child. Also featuring as a principal dancer and acting roles in the 2009 movie production of Love N' Dancing and the 2009 movie of Defective Man. Luke also joined a US tour with GX International were he traveled and performed in over 30 venues, while guest teaching as a master teacher throughout the country. Luke's works with Musical Theatre Southwest as a choreographer date back to 2005 following up to the current 2017 season. His passion for tap dancing also gave him the vision and wisdom to construct a tap company back in 2010, were he is still currently the Owner/Artistic director of the Alley Kats Tap Co.& Jazz Ensemble leading into the 2017-2018 season.

On Stage Theatrical Tap
Tuesdays 5:30 PM 6:30 pm

Dancing focused on Broadway style and classical tap. The instruction will cover tap's movement from street performance hoofing to on scene and theatrical tap dance.

Tap shoes required.

Hip Hop
Wednesdays 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm
Get ready to have fun and grow as a dancer and as a person! My classes are a safe space, a no judgement zone! I cannot wait to see you all there!

*Come in comfortable clothes and sneakers.

Saturdays 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM
The class will teach men how to properly lift and support their partner and teach women how to be lifted and how to dance in heels. Throughout the semester you will learn different types and styles of partnering.

*Girls are required to wear heels and not loose clothing. Men wear closed toe shoes and not loose clothing.

Maia Plevin has been studying dance for 13 years. She has trained in Hip Hop, Jazz, Ballet, Tap, Modern, Flamenco, Ballroom, Krump, Contemporary, and Partnering. She danced competitively for 8 years and is a national title holder. She has been performing in musical theatre since the age of 6. She started her theatre training as a Growing Stage kid. Maia is currently studying theatre at CNM. She has been in Musical Theatre Southwests' Evita, Rock of ages, American idiot, and Rocky Horror Show. Maia cannot wait to share her passion of dance with the theatre community.
Jonathan Ragsdale
Jonathan Ragsdale is a performer, choreographer, and teaching artist with a full decade of experience in theatre arts. A UNM alumn, (BA in Theatre & Dance) he has performed at both the local and professional level including National Tours (Memphis, Elf, FAME) Regional Theater (CATS, Mamma Mia) Cruise Lines (Holland America MS Nieuw Amsterdam) and on Television (Breaking Bad, In Plain Sight) Local favorites include Footloose at MTS (2011), Hairspray at ALT (2010) and Pippin at Landmark (2009). As a choreographer, Jonathan's work has been seen at dance studios, Community Theaters, children's theatre and show choirs, and the Santa Fe Opera. As an instructor, he currently teaches classes at UNM, Dance Theatre Southwest, and The Growing Stage, as well as guest teaching and subs at VIBES.

Musical Theatre Movement
Thursdays 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm
This is a beginner level class for the newbie with Broadway dreams. Class includes a low impact warmup, beginner technique, and new choreography every week to a different musical! Come learn the basics in a fun, friendly, and judgement free environment, and fear dance auditions no more!

Closed toed shoes and dress to move no dresses, skirts or jeans.

STephanie Lange
Stephanie graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BFA in Musical Theatre from the College of Santa Fe in 1998. She lived in New York City for five years where she worked as a dancer, dance instructor, choreographer, personal trainer and aerobics instructor. She taught for the United Nations, YWCA, NBC, Crunch, and New York Sport and Wellness. Stephanie also performed off Broadway, in film, and was a backup dancer for a recording artist. She was certified with the National Dance Institute. She has taught dance at many local dance studios in Albuquerque, Santa Fe, and New York. She also taught ballet and Musical Theatre dance at The College of Santa Fe.

For the past 27 years she has choreographed and performed with local companies such as The New Mexico Ballet Company, The Albuquerque Little Theatre, Musical Theatre Southwest, The Growing Stage, Landmark Musicals, and The Adobe Theatre. Favorite roles include Velma Kelly in Chicago, Audrey in Little Shop of Horrors, Anita in West Side Story, Janet in the Rocky Horror Picture Show, Gigi in Gigi and Aurora in Kiss of the Spiderwoman. Stephanie's family has owned and operated Gold Cup Gymnastics School for over 40 years. She was a competitive gymnast before getting into theatre. She is currently the Office Manager, Summer Camp Director, Dance Instructor, and Optional Girls choreographer. Stephanie is married to photographer, Kevin Lange and her greatest role ever is being a mom to 2 year old Scarlett.
